We know how important it is to make sure you are getting enough exercise, right? Fitness has become a focal point these days, and more and more people are looking at ways of improving their bodies. But, sometimes it can be difficult to do exercise, and we get that; you don’t always have the time, or the inclination, to get to the gym, or go for a run.
However, you do need to try to make sure you have an exercise regime that you stick to on a regular basis. This can be difficult to achieve, so you need to be very disciplined as much as possible. Now, you need to understand what can happen to your body when you don’t get enough exercise. If this isn’t motivation enough to get moving, we don’t know what is!
You crave junk food
We’ve all indulged in the odd takeout on a Friday night, right? As Savage Garden (remember them?) once sang “…Junk food tastes so good because it’s bad for you.” And you will be cursing when you reach for that cheeseburger on a weeknight. It’s proven that, with lack of exercise, your body is much more likely to crave junk food. And it’s going to take some serious willpower to reject that temptation!
You don’t sleep well
After a workout session you generally feel worn out and tired, and you probably sleep well that night as a result. However, it is proven that lack of exercise can result in you not being able to sleep well. If you are tossing and turning and feeling restless at night, the reason behind this could well be that you aren’t getting enough exercise. When you work out, you’ll sleep much better, and for much longer, helping you to become more alert and function better.
You get winded easily
Have you ever had that experience of climbing up a flight of stairs and being out of breath once you hit the top? Well, it’s most likely that this is as a result of not getting enough exercise. It’s a sure sign that you are unfit, and that your body isn’t used to the amount of exercise, so you wind up breathless. Try to ensure you are getting in regular exercise on a weekly basis, so your body is used to a bit of exertion.
Your metabolism slows down
People who lose weight generally are able to do this because they have a high metabolism. But, as we get older our metabolism naturally slows down. It also slows down when you don’t get enough exercise. When you don’t get enough exercise, your muscles shrink, and your body fat percentage increases. This ensures you keep gaining weight, even with the same daily habits. If you don’t want to put on weight, and you want to increase your metabolism, you need to keep exercising as often as possible.
It’s pretty evident that, when you don’t exercise enough, it can have a negative effect on your body, and your mind. There are so many things you can do that will help you to keep yourself in shape, and get your body active. Exercise is important, and it can even be something as simple as going for a walk each day.
